What should I wear?

Ideally, as you are paddling in chilly water a neoprene wetsuit, neoprene boots/shoes and a cagoule to keep the wind off your upper body would be a good idea, but not everyone has these so here are a few suggestions. Please remember the water can be cold even in summer so it is important to dress for immersion.

Getting started:

what you will need as a minimum -

  • Spare pair of trainers or sandles that are suitable for immersion in water.
  • Wetsuit or shorts, track suit bottoms or similar trousers - please no cotton based trousers like jeans
  • Thermal base layer/rash vest, non cotton T-shirt and a fleece
  • A cagoule/windproof top
  • If you wear glasses then please use a strap or bring some string so we can tie them to your buoyancy aid
  • Sun cream
  • Hand Sanitiser
  • Hat
  • Water
  • Food
  • Spare dry clothes
